I just got accepted to participate in this year’s fair! I’ll be showcasing my latest collection - Wardrobe - and preview pieces from my next collection. You’ll have an opportunity shop my sustainable designs along the curated selection of makers, small businesses, and artists on the forefront of their craft. Mark your calendar - December 8 + 9 from 11 am to 5 pm at the Los Angeles State Historic Park. We’ll see you there!
Funding secured! Thank you to everyone who helped me to reach my Kickstarter funding goal. With your help, I raised $15,186 toward launching my first sustainable ready-to-wear collection for creative professionals. The money will be used to purchase fabric, supplies, and cover the cost of my first production run. I want to build a business that is mindful of environment and strives to reduce the harmful effects of the fashion industry on our planet. I also want to use business as an opportunity to raise awareness about causes, charities, and people making the world a better place. As promised, I’ll also be donating 5% of my funds to Food on Food - a Los Angeles non-profit helping the poor and homeless individuals to earn their way off the streets with a full-time job and housing they can afford. I am committed to paying it forward and using my business as a way to give back. Thank you so much for your contributions and joining me on this journey.
To accompany the launch of my brand, I'm also launching a journal: Interior Attitudes.
The title comes from one of my favorite artists - Joan Brown. For Brown, art was autobiographical. She created many self-portraits that documented her inner life on canvas. She termed these representations of the self - interior attitudes.
My goal is to share my passion for the arts and the environment. I've had three major motivations my whole life: art, nature, and helping others. I started my brand with the goal to create an ethical company that promotes artful living and community, not consumerism and materialism. I hope to pair sustainable design with environmentally conscious living and interesting conversations. My series Looking at Art is passion project to share to my love art and art history, especially from a female point of view. In my opinion, the world is filled with so many beautiful and interesting things - let's cherish them all.
I will share behind the scenes stories about the design process, craftspeople making your clothes, and how every decision we make is an effort to minimize our impact on the environment.
I am pro-women. My series Femme Fatales will take a closer look at all the nasty women throughout history. l'll examine popular culture and myth to question why there are still major discrepancies in the number of women in the art world and boardroom.
I'm also on a journey towards living a more sustainable lifestyle and slowing eliminating my use of plastic. My series Work/Life will document my efforts to live a well balanced life while accepting I might always be a work in progress.
Please join the conversation and share your inspirations and ideas!
